In this class, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by baking a golden Irish Soda Bread studded with currants and brightened with fresh orange zest. What You’ll Need

Ingredients

  1. 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus some extra

  2. 4 tablespoons sugar

  3. 1 teaspoon baking soda

  4. 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt

  5. 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch dice

  6. 1 3/4 cups cold buttermilk

  7. 1 extra-large egg, lightly beaten

  8. 1 teaspoon grated orange zest

  9. 1 cup dried currants (raisins, craisins, etc.)
